Safety
Staying safe
Damson is for meeting real people, and most people are genuine — but you're meeting strangers. A few habits keep it fun and safe.
Before you meet
- Chat inside the app until you trust someone — you keep control and can block instantly.
- Voice or video call first. It's the fastest way to confirm someone is who they say.
- Tell a friend who you're meeting, where, and when — and when you expect to be back.
- Do a quick search of their name or photos if anything feels off.
Protect your information
- Never send money, gift cards, or financial details — no matter the story. That's the #1 scam.
- Keep your home and work address private until you genuinely trust someone.
- Be wary of anyone who rushes intimacy, refuses to video chat, or asks to move to another app right away.
When you meet
- Meet in a public place the first time, and stay in public until you're comfortable.
- Arrange your own transport there and back so you can leave whenever you want.
- Stay in control — know your limit with alcohol or substances, and keep your phone charged.
- Trust your gut. If something feels wrong, leave. You never owe anyone an explanation.
Consent & respect
- Consent is enthusiastic, ongoing, and can be withdrawn at any time.
- Respect a “no” immediately. Someone who's intoxicated can't consent.
- Talk about boundaries and protection beforehand — it's normal, and it's hot to be clear.
If something goes wrong
- Block and report from any chat or profile (tap the ⋯ menu). Reports are confidential.
- In an emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately (911 in the US).
- Report threats, assault, or crimes to local authorities — and to us, so we can act on the account.
We can't vet people for you
Damson does not run criminal background checks. Verification confirms a live selfie matches the profile — it is not a character reference. These steps are your first line of safety. Look out for yourself, and for each other.
